Where to Take Items to be Re-used or Recycled in Alsager

Books – Alsager Book Emporium, Hassall Road former Methodist chapel, raising funds for Englesea Brook Museum of Methodism. Open Fri & Sat 10am – 2pm, 01270 625444

Spectacles – Alsager Health Centre entrance lobby or Scrivens opticians – for Lions Club, who collect and send to developing countries

School uniform & shoes – Alsager Community Support Centre for distribution to local families

Non-perishable Food, Plastic Carrier Bags, Toiletries, Disposable Nappies etc –Alsager Foodbank, various drop off points including supermarkets, churches & Alsager Community Support Centre

Postage stamps, Stamp Collections, Coins, Jewellery – Alsager Community Support Centre for Stampout MND raising funds for Motor Neurone Disease research

Mobile Phones &Tablets ** – Alsager Community Support Centre for distribution to people in need.

Bras – in reasonable condition – Alsager Community Support Centre for Uganda

Batteries – All supermarkets should have collection boxes in store, Car batteries should be taken to Household Waste Recycling Centre, Hassall Road, Alsager

Children’s toys, books, clothes, bedding & equipment – St Luke’s Hospice Children’s charity shop, 3, Crewe Road, Alsager phone 01270 879151. (Fundraising).

Children’s beds, cots, wardrobes, bedding and clothing– Alice Charity distributes direct to families in need across Stoke & Newcastle areas. Phone 01782 627017. Fortnightly collection.

Clothing, shoes, unwanted gifts, toys, CDs, DVDs, bric a brac etc – any local charity shop (Age U.K., Headway, Cancer research, Douglas Macmillan & St Luke’s Hospice shops are all in Alsager). Fundraising.

Seeds and plants, flower pots & trays – Alsager Sustainability Group seed swop stall open to all at monthly Olive and Stitch Market (April to October) or Alsager Gardens Association hut at Cedar Ave.

Old blankets, Towels, Fleece Throws, Pet Food, Dog & Cat Bedding & Equipment (for use with rescued pets). Also small items of Furniture, Bric-a-brac, Memorabilia, Pictures etc. for sale at monthly auctions to raise funds – Alsager Animals in Need 01270 875260         

Small electrical items in working order **– Headway charity shop (fundraising)

Water filters (Brita/Tesco), Inkjet Cartridges, Batteries & Energy Saving Lightbulbs – Tesco store, Kidsgrove

Computers – Desktop & Laptops **, Sewing & knitting machines, Garden tools, Electric Power Tools, Carpentry, Plumbing, Motor Mechanics, & Building Tools, phone Gordon on 01270 872832, will collect for Tools with a Mission, to be refurbished & sent to Africa

Spectacles, mobile phones, postcards (new or used), toner & inkjet cartridges (not Epsom) small batteries  – Wesley Place church

Leftover or unused Medicines & used inhalers – return to any pharmacy for safe disposal

Furniture & Household items, Baby Equipment, Bikes, Children’s clothes, Cookers, Fridges, Freezers, Tumble Dryers – St Paul’s Centre Crewe, for distribution to families in need. Phone 01270 586186 to arrange collection.

Electrical items in non-working order **, soft furniture without a fire safety label & other bulky items should be taken to the Household Waste Recycling Centre or delivery can be arranged for a fee (usually £40) by Cheshire East Council, phone
